Happy 2013 everyone!
Historically, December tends to be one of the slowest hiring months of the year, and December 2012 was no exception. Bright predicts 141,000 jobs were created in December 2012. Despite this slow down, there remain numerous Bright regions in the employment landscape. Comparing the first half with the second half of the year in the eleven largest metros, San Francisco turned in the largest overall jobs growth in terms of percentage change in 2012, and we expect this trend to continue into 2013. In addition, several sectors displayed significant growth including telecommunications, healthcare, and tech, while law enforcement, banking/financial services, and insurance displayed significant decline.
We’ll see what the Bureau of Labor Statistics has conjured up this month on Friday, January 4. We wish everyone a successful and happy 2013.
