Yesterday, we heard from an 8’2″ affable, yellow bird, who just realized he may not have a job come January. This job seeker has a varied background including Linguist and Mathematics Coach, Skating Carhop, Singer, Dancer, Actor and, most recently, Social Media Maven.
With over 3 million job listings on the Internet, Big Bird wasn’t sure what kind of jobs to apply for, or where he should even start. Today’s job search is mired in inefficiency. People (/birds) submit resumes and apply to hundreds of jobs in just a few clicks. Employers receive hundreds of applications, and job seekers get lost in the shuffle. But the Data Scientists at Bright believe the best way to eliminate the current bottleneck is to use Big Data Technology – specifically their Bright Score machine-learning algorithm – to quickly connect the right people with the right jobs. Bright does the job of scouring job listings and gives the job seeker a score between 0 and 100 to show them which jobs are the best fit for their background and skills.
So Big Bird put Bright.com to work to help him find the perfect opportunity. Upon uploading his resume to Bright, he found that he scored well for Social Media positions. As it turns out, he’s a natural at Twitter (go figure, right – he IS a bird, after all. Tweeting is just sort of his thing.)! He started a Twitter handle called @FiredBigBird on Wednesday night which grew to over 25,000 followers within a single day, spurred 17,000 tweets/minute and caused the topic “Big Bird” to trump “Obamacare” on trending topics! Bird Bird was born to tweet.
In a search for Social Media positions, Bright came up with the following positions for Big Bird:
With his background with nonprofits, children and sports, Bright instantly surfaced the best social media jobs for his background.
